It's been a long time since i was in Volos in order to watch a hillclimb race or rally. I've been to Portaria hillclimb many times but there is a special position for Rally Kentavros and Rally Almyros.
Mourgelas Racing team(@mourgelas_racing_team) invited me to the race which i couldn't refuse. On Wednesday, we loaded Mitsubishi EVO VIII along with other cars from Peloponnisos (Asimakopoulos- Dimitsana, Mantzioris- Megalopoli, Papadopoulos, Spiropoulos, Xondrou Kalamata) on the truck to Volos. The expenses to transport the cars to Portaria was partially paid by the organizers as a sign of support to the drivers in these difficult circumstances. We met on Friday and departed for Portaria in a beautiful atmosphere.

Passing Lamia and arriving in Volos I remembered all the good time I had in this city. Unfortunately Covid-19 did not allow us to enjoy the nightlife as all shops closed at 12:00. We had a good dinner, took a walk in the port and then we head to Portaria to our hotel.
For me Portaria hillclimb is a very difficult and special race. The start of the race was moved increasing the route's distance to 4.7km. The organizers did a great job securing the route with new asphalt and protection but also in communication with the drivers using modern media.
On the race, on Saturday Dimitris did two tests with his Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VIII dealing with electrical issues but improving his times. On Sunday a broken collar didn't let Dimitris finish his the race.
Besides Dimitris, we had another participant from Tripoli. The Skoda Fabia Cup of Taxiarxis Asimakopoulos worked perfectly and the driver managed to drive fast and be the fastest driver in his class.
On Sunday we returned in Tripoli after a good dinner in a tavern. Mourgelas Racing Team (@mourgelas_racing_team) stared preparing for the next race.
For me Portaria hillclimb was a huge experience. A difficult race that was dealt methodically by Dimitris and the team and based on his tests, the race would bring a very good result. Problems and faults are within the program in motorsport.
